Chapter 6: Loowod institution

Jane starts her day very cold. There is no water to wash because it is frozen. The food is a little better, but still not enough. Jane joins the fourth class and starts doing school tasks. She learns that school is hard and confusing.

She sees a girl named Helen Burns being treated very badly by the teacher, Miss Scatcherd. Helen is smart and answers all the questions, but the teacher still punishes her. She hits Helen with sticks. Helen does not cry or complain. Jane feels angry, but Helen stays calm and quiet.

Later, Jane and Helen talk. Jane cannot understand why Helen accepts the bad treatment. Helen says it is better to be kind and patient. She believes in forgiveness and Christian values. Jane thinks Helen is very strong, but she still wants to fight when someone is unfair.

PERSONAL OPINION

I think this chapter is very emotional. I feel sad for Helen because the teacher is not fair. I like Helen because she is smart, calm, and kind. She is strong in a quiet nature. I also understand Jane. She is young and wants justice. This part of the book shows us how different people react to unfair things. It made me think about kindness and patience.

ACTIVITIES

In this image we can see, how teachers were cruel and not had feelings. Here there is a teacher punishing a girl in school. It is like the story, where Miss.Scatched punishes Helen Burns, as we can see Helen does not fight back, because she's very smart and patient Other girls are watching, just like Jane Eyre watches Helen. This shows how strict and unfair the school is. It helps us understand how Jane feels when she sees Helen suffer.
